A Starfield in-universe memo has given U.S.A a ton of newly perceptivity into the game's sci-fi setting, though information technology's non clear whether we are actually supposed to be competent to read it.

So, what sustain we learned from this memorandum, assuming it International Relations and Security Network't a flushed herring created to drop off snooping fans? In the fiction of Starfield, the United Colonies is a governing consistency for several systems deserving of settled planets, possibly operating alongside another much body called the Freestar Collective. Both of these factions are plagued by a loosely affiliated chemical group of pirates calling themselves the Crimson Fleet, and the United Colonies has atomic number 102 qualms about calling these pirates "parasites" and giving pop-on-sight orders for anyone flying the fleet's banner. Honestly, that last part makes ME feel a lot more incertain about the United Colonies than the Crimson Fleet.
Finally, at any rate part of the game (or its backstory anyway) is kick in Rigil Kent, the closest planetary system to our own. Alpha Centauri is likely home plate to humanity's oldest and foremost-established colonies in Starfield, since it's just a hop, skip, and hyperjump away at 4.37 lightyears prohibited from the Sun.
Again, information technology's non clear whether Bethesda included the memo in the trailer as an accident, a little wink to fans, or as a red Clupea harangus, just hopefully we don't have to wait much thirster to hear about the story behind Starfield.
